You could probably learn the basics from instruction DVDs (have a look on Amazon.com, there's always some basic ballet ones around) but to get really sound technique and be certain you're doing it right you really ought to take proper lessons. Speak to your mum about it, find out the reason why she won't let you take lessons and see if you can find a way round it between you. If it's something you're really passionate about, TELL her that and see if you can work round it.

Mmmm. Idk if you can learn it at home. Unless someone who already knows it teaches you. Because you'll need the shoes, and probably a bar to stretch out on. I would ask your mom, tell her how important it is and how much you want to do it. Tell her you'll pitch in some extra help to show that you really want it. Dance is a great thing %26lt;3. Don't give up yet!
It would be difficult to learn ballet at home . You really do need a teacher and to attend a class is the best way , in a suitable hall or large room . To do it at home you would need to set up a room with a large mirror , a bar for exercises and a television , video/DVD and films of ballet instruction . I wonder what your mum's objections are ; maybe the cost , or maybe the time involved , taking you and fetching you in the evening . It is quite a bother for parents taking their children to activities of this kind . Talk to your mother seriously , ask her why she says no to ballet . You can get videos on how to do aerobics ; I expect there are ballet one too . if you could try to do it on your own at home , your mother might be persuaded .
Listen I have the same problem too but heres what you do you go on the Internet and find some things even videos on how to do such thing like the basics try http://www.expertvillage.com and youtube, but I'm sorry to say you can't really take ballet seriously without the proper facilities so I advise you to try your best to convince your mom and if that doesn't work then get a job earn your own money and then do it remember keep your head up and keep the passion if you have the passion don't let NOBODY! take that away from you,

Is there a particular reason why she won't let you? If its a financial reason, maybe a local YMCA can help! I'm pretty sure that their classes are all free.

If you're like me and just can't find enough time in your schedule, maybe you can drop something else that you don't enjoy as much. You can also dance at summer camp if you're free in the summer.

Do you have any dance experience? Previous dance instruction (especially in jazz) can help you a lot with ballet. Of course, they're minor differences between the two types of dance, but the basics are almost the same.

is a wonderful site where you can teach yourself some ballet. There are great videos and pictures too, however the best place to learn ballet is in a studio.
go on amazon or ebay and read the reviews cuz thats were u will get the best info and stuff
check amazon, overstock, or ebay. Also go to a book store. Unfortunately there is only so much you can do at home. Look into classes at a community center or YMCA if you have a finical problem. Good luck!!
